Accessible games, AKA a realm with which I am not familiar

I was telling my boyfriend (sighted) about how neat this site is, and being a gamer to some extent, he was wondering if there were any accessible games he'd be able to play with me. When he does whip out the Xbox (which does not happen anymore when I'm around, let me tell you), I sit on the sidelines, unable to play because my vision is simply not what it used to be. Plus, I'm not into videogames anymore. Anyway, I know there are some accessible games out there for sure, but I know nothing about them and don't want to undergo the process of trial and error that I often do with books when I'm bored and looking for something to read. So my question is, what are your favorites? Are they multiplayer systems (E.G.: do you play aginst tons of people you don't even know, like in RP), or can you play with a friend or two like with Xbox Live? Are there games with storylines other than fantasy, town-building, or killing people? Lol...I'm such a girl. Sorry!

Thanks for your help! We really appreciate it.

firstly, i'd suggest rsgames

www.rsgames.org

it's a client where you can play games such as uno, blackjack, monopoly, 1000 miles, yatzi, blackjack and battleship. also more games are constantly aded and there are 2 versions. either a client you download to your computer, or a web client which enables you to play the games with out downloading the client

there is also a game called the kingdom of loathing. even though it does have killing in it, there are other quests too- for example, on 1 level you have to find a diary, and on another level you have to do a maze- it's a lot of fun. even more so because you get diffrent challenges on each level- so unlike most games where it's always the same thing, that does have other things you can do
also have you tried muds?

there are a number of them out there, ranging from space adventure games, to games based around lord of the rings or starwars.

if you go to:

www.whitestick.co.uk

you'll find a section called games to play online.

under that heading- you will find a few games you may be interested in.

good luck:)

There's also Jim Kitchen's games. His games are simple but not! easy. Not much that you can pick up and beat in ten minutes. If you want something you and a sighted friend can play together you ought to check out the text-to-speech games section. Those games provide the sighted person with something to see and keep them up to speed on what's going on in the game while also allowing you the same courtesy of speech. Jim's got everything from golf to Monopoly to Trivial Pursuit. The best part about those three in particular is that they're completely customizable. You can create your own golf courses, Monopoly boards and trivia files without needing any programming knowledge whatsoever. And if you want you can share these with others via Jim's site. He also just released Awesome Homer, a Donkey Kong style game where you play as Homer trying to rescue Marge from Gonk the Ape. Another game, though perhaps not a good one for playing with others, is his Trucker game. Well actually someone else wrote the game and Jim just added sound effects for atmosphere. But you play the role of a long-haul trucker and your goal is to transport a cargo from LA to New York within the time limit. You have to manage your fuel and be sure you get enough sleep while making sure you don't damage your cargo. But the best thing about Jim's games is that not only are they of excellent quality but they're totally free! Also note that although you don't necesarily HAVE to do this in order to actually play the games, you can download the Winkit file, which organizes the games into a menu so you don't have to go looking for them individually. Then again for newer operating systems it's a good idea to download that file since it installs all the files the games require to run on those newer systems. But if you're interested check out www.kitchensinc.net.

If you go to www.7128.com, you will find a top 25 list of websites for gamers who are blind. This listing includes the suggestions made by the previous posts and many other websites. It is updated each year and gives you lots of information about each website. You can go to the website directly from the list by selecting the URL.

And if you are interested in puzzle, word or story games, 7-128 Software has accessible games available on their site.

Sorry I know this thread is rather old but I just saw it. In my never-humble opinion, the best game site out there is www.blindadrenaline.com It has card games like spades, hearts, and euchre, as well as blackjack and poker games. You can play with friends or get to know new people. A very user-friendly site with a lot of fun people. Check it out! smile

www.audiogames.net is the huge hub I remember from my, like, 2006 stint of audiogaming...which lasted like two seconds, cuz i suck at them. Also, Melmel, don't forget good ol' l-works.net! :D Go Super Liam!

There's also Airik the Cleric as well but that game's still got some quirks to be ironed out. It's got some major ass potential though.
